Have you been on lag about signing up for a Snapchat account? Feeling outdated is a struggle many might feel and is definitely one I have come across and I’m not even old!

This is an app that my kids use and when I talk about using Snapchat, they like to make fun of me. Until I signed up, I didn’t know how much fun it could be, so I started using it as a means of communication with my children, sending funny images to posting stories that provide valuable content to collogues and fellow classmates.  Personally I enjoy it for its simplicity and value to my work.

Snapchat isn’t just for young adults anymore. Many adults and business professionals are now using Snapchat to communicate, share images, recipes, promotions, and other content about their industry through this free app. It’s the new way to market and advertise what’s going on in your industry.
How to Use Snapchat As a Marketing Tool

A competition for Facebook that’s for sure. In May, Snapchat reported having 8 billion daily video views, which sets it just behind that of Facebook, according to an article by FastCompany.com.

So one might ask how you use Snapchat for business?

For one, if your interns are using it, it’s probably smart to jump on board. They know a thing or two about social media.

Snapchat for business and marketing is becoming more and more effective as the days go by. Snapchat is a trend that probably won’t subside, therefore making it a suitable means to your marketing needs. Here’s a few steps to getting your business set up on Snapchat:

·         First, set up your account information and put a pic in that Ghost and make it fun. It doesn’t have to be of you, but definitely give it a personality, especially if it’s representing your brand.

·         Start recording or taking pics. Use filters, stickers and the crayon to make your images fun and informative, if you can, if you want.

·         Or,use your finger to press your face on the screen and see animation come to life with a fun variety of themes to choose from. – Don’t actually put your face on the screen.

·         When your image or video is just as you want it, post it. You can send it as a story for everyone following you to see or you can send it to individuals in your friends list.

Use the video feature to get your message out to your target audience. This is a great way to humanize your company and connect with your consumers letting your audience know what’s happening within the company. Have a fun meeting? Share it. Have a company lunch? Share it. Birthday’s? Share it! Let people know that even though you’re busy at work, you’re still having fun. Everyone enjoys a happy smiling face.

Video is also beneficial for your marketing and advertising. The video portion enables you to share important and relevant information. If you still can’t get everything out in a recording, write your copy for viewers to read. They can then scroll up to see the information.

And if you’re completely new to Snapchat, then you should know it’s now way easier to record live videos because you no longer have to keep a thumb on the screen to keep recording. Now it can be locked into place by simply scrolling your thumb down to the lock icon. No struggles and easy to use.

Using images just adds to humanizing your company. It’s also the key to advertising, and it’s not just an image. Viewers can scroll up to see copy that’s been written which can provide a more detailed description about the promotion, the product/brand, and other interesting things going on in the company.

Just a little side note – Snapchat creates daily challenges on their Facebook page for viewers to participate in that your business could do for further engagement opportunities.

After you’ve built your content, send it out and let the fun begin. Watch your followers sky rocket and have fun accepting trophies for just communicating!
