It was Monday 26th of June 2017 - the big day where I will start my first day at my first internship at an outsourced marketing firm. I remember coming here on Sunday afternoon, the day before to take a peek at where the beginning of my marketing career will start. Though it is a long distance away from home, I was excited to travel here every morning for the next few months. It has been three weeks since that Sunday afternoon, though it may sound a long time already, it has been going by in a flash.
What I have learnt in My Internship So Far

The reason why I chose to complete an internship at Marketing Eye was because of its large service line in multiple diverse sectors. By having the ability to provide clients a full marketing service under one roof, I thought this was a great opportunity to challenge and expose myself to the big world of marketing – and it was truly extremely exciting.

Since day one, despite feeling a bit incompetent about what I would be able to help with, everyone seemed to be ready and able to give me tasks and relevant feedback. The team atmosphere is great, despite being a fast- paced environment; everyone is always willing to give a helping hand and is highly supportive of what interns do. It has allowed me to gain more confidence in my own abilities and develop new skills at a fast pace. It has really helped me push forward into becoming more and more like to the marketing professional that I aspire to be.

Each day is a brand new day. With that, it means new and exciting tasks that I can help other marketing executives complete. It also means I was able to apply academic knowledge to practical work and ensures professional development. Even though from time to time I found myself working alone, I have already been able to experience a range of different marketing applications. In terms of the physical contribution to marketing, I have been able to take part in social media, digital marketing, blog writing, direct marketing, market research, content writing and many other marketing activities – and I am still learning much more as each day goes by.

It is really an eye opener to witness firsthand the day to day operations at a marketing firm; watching real life application of those marketing principles that I have learnt at university and just being able to put my academic knowledge into practice.  It has allowed me to get valuable industry experience and insights about the typical workload and responsibilities of an industry I am passionate about.

I can go on and on about how much these past weeks have done for me, the world I got to see, the skills I have learn, the confidence I have built, the new friends I have made. Honestly, if you ever get a chance to, I would highly recommend you to jump on board their internship program. After each day here, I get motivated to wake up the next morning to get back through those doors to learn more. Just imagining what I could do the next day in this world of marketing is a gift in itself.
